NS BlueScope Lysaght Singapore Achieves New Milestone for Renewable Energy

Lysaght Singapore has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Urban Renewables, a Singapore-based sustainable energy developer, for the installation of a 515kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its industrial facility in Singapore. The PV system was designed and installed by Energetix, a renewable energy specialist, and was successfully commissioned on 1 July 2021.

The solar implementation enables Lysaght Singapore to produce more clean energy than it consumes annually and moves the NS BlueScope group closer to its 2030 sustainability goal through increased use of renewable energy across its facilities.

In addition, two sets of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have been installed at Lysaght’s car park to allow EV users to recharge their vehicles using the clean energy produced on site.

The LYSAGHT® metal roof system was used for the solar implementation which utilises high-performing COLORBOND® steel from BlueScope. The materials’ excellent durability and long service life serve as an impeccable platform for solar panel installations. Moreover, the material complements the entire system with its THERMATECH® solar reflectance technology that effectively reduces energy consumption by absorbing lesser solar heat and keeping the indoors cooler.

This project marks a new milestone for Lysaght Singapore to achieve the goal of transitioning into a sustainable business and moving towards a greener future by attaining its target of carbon neutrality.
